SetOptics ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at setoptics.com and the SetOptics video analysis platform (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and the role you select during onboarding (e.g., coach, player, developer). Account authentication is handled by Clerk, our identity provider.
If you enter your email address on our launch countdown page, we store that address to tell you when the Service opens. You do not need an account, and we ask for nothing else. Submitting the form is your opt-in. Every message we send to this list includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time. We do not use this list for advertising and we do not share or sell it.
You may upload volleyball game footage for analysis. Videos are stored in Google Cloud Storage. We process video frames through Google Gemini (a generative AI model) to detect rally boundaries and generate analysis.
We do not extract biometric identifiers (e.g., facial recognition, fingerprints) from your videos. Our analysis focuses on game events like rallies, ball trajectories, and court positioning — not individual identification.
With your permission, we use your uploaded footage and the rally labels produced from it to train and improve our detection models. This is on by default. You can turn it off at any time from Profile → Data & Privacy.
The setting applies to your whole account, and turning it off covers all of your footage, past and future, not only videos you upload afterwards. Once it is off, none of your videos are included in any training dataset we build from that point on. It never affects playback, edits, exports, or anything else about how the Service works for you.
What turning it off cannot do is remove your footage from models that were already trained while it was on. That is a limitation of how these models work rather than a policy choice: once data has contributed to a trained model, it cannot be pulled back out of it. If you want your data removed, delete the video or your account and we will remove the stored footage and the labels derived from it.
We do not use the sample video we provide with new accounts for training, because that footage is ours rather than yours.
We collect information about how you use the Service, including credit transactions, videos uploaded, and processing requests. This data helps us operate and improve the Service.

Each of these providers has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data, and processes it on our behalf under their standard terms of service.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers, advertising networks, or data brokers, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles. We disclose information only in the situations below.
The providers listed in Section 3 process data on our behalf, only to the extent needed to operate the Service, and under their standard terms. They are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. Each provider receives only the data its function requires: Clerk receives your name and email for authentication, Resend receives your email address to deliver transactional messages and to hold the launch notification list, Vercel serves the frontend, and Google Cloud Platform stores your account record and footage and runs the Gemini analysis.
When you connect a YouTube channel and submit an upload, we transmit the rally video, along with the title, description, and visibility setting you approved, to YouTube on your behalf. Nothing is sent to YouTube unless you connect a channel and choose to upload.
We may disclose information if we are required to do so by law, subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to investigate fraud or a security incident, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights or safety of our users or the public.
If SetOptics is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the successor entity as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy, and you will be able to delete your account first.
Our own personnel access user data only when it is necessary to provide support you have requested, to investigate a security or abuse report, or to comply with law. Access is limited to what the task requires.
SetOptics uses YouTube API Services. This section describes the data we receive from Google APIs when you connect a YouTube channel, and it applies only if you choose to connect one. Connecting is entirely optional and no part of the rest of the Service depends on it.
By using this part of the Service you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's own handling of your data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
We store an OAuth refresh token for the connected channel, encrypted at rest, with the encryption key held in Google Secret Manager and never written to our logs. Alongside it we store the channel ID, channel title, channel thumbnail URL, and the Google account email described above. This is held in our database, which runs on Google Cloud SQL in the United States.
We do not share, transfer, or disclose your Google user data to any third party, other than in the two circumstances below.
Google user data is not shared with any of our other service providers. Specifically, it is never sent to Clerk, Resend, Vercel, or the Gemini API. We do not sell it, rent it, or transfer it to advertisers, advertising networks, data brokers, or any other third party, and we do not use it for advertising, credit scoring, lending decisions, or any purpose unrelated to publishing the videos you ask us to publish.
If SetOptics were ever transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, we would not transfer Google user data to the successor entity. We would revoke the connections and delete the stored tokens, and you would need to reconnect your channel with the successor if you chose to.
We do not use Google user data to develop, train, improve, or evaluate any artificial intelligence or machine learning model, whether our own or a third party's. Our rally detection models are trained only on volleyball footage that you upload to SetOptics directly, and only while the training setting described in Section 1 is enabled on your account. Data received from Google APIs is excluded from every training dataset we build, and the training setting has no bearing on it.
SetOptics' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Cached channel information is refreshed or discarded within 30 days. You can disconnect a channel at any time from Profile > Connections, which revokes our access at Google and deletes the stored token in the same request; any remaining YouTube data we hold is deleted within 7 days. Deleting your SetOptics account removes all of it. You can also revoke our access directly at the Google security settings page.
We retain your account information and video content for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time via the profile settings, which will permanently remove your account data and associated videos. Aggregated, non-identifying analytics may be retained after account deletion.
Launch notification addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.
SetOptics is operated from the United States, and your account information and footage are stored and processed on Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your data is transferred there. The rights described below are available to all users regardless of location.
We use essential cookies required for authentication (Clerk session cookies). We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy and provide appropriate notice.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), authenticated API access, and scoped access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
